Overlay or Peer-to-peer VPNs running on Monroe Metro Ethernet Networks can benefit the most from MPLS.  Point to Point MPLS VPN uses Virtual Leased Lines (VLL), avoiding line lease problems associated with Frame Relay. Other MPLS VPNs include: Layer 2 MPLS, also referred to as VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Service), which uses a cloud switcher to give access to a VLAN (Virtual Land Area Network); and Layer 3 MPLS which is a Virtual Private Routed Network (VPRN) used to transmit data with an added level of privacy.
